Can you use both the sims on 4g in some other headset? As far as I know it is designed like that. You cant run 4g on both sims simultaneously.

It's by design. Only 1 sim can use 4g modem. When you use Airtel as data sim, it locks the 4g modem. Other sim can't receive 4g. So, it will fall back to 3g/2g. As jio doesn't have 3g/2g towers, there won't be any signal at all.

he's talking just about losing network in the other sim. not about using 4g simultaneously

There are phones that can but they advertise it specifically since it is a feature not common in Western phones. Mainly due to mobile providers exercising their market strength, but also because in comparison the HW and SW adaptations are more complicated than the switching mechanism.

Just as an example you need two modems on the SoC and both drain a lot of power.

so many disadvantages and additional cost for very few niche Szenarios in which it'd be useful.

Even if he moves jio to slot 1 and selects Airtel as the data sim, jio will lose signal. It's the same case.

The problem is with Jio SIM, it will not work if the default data SIM is not selected for Jio, it will loose signals as well
