Web Browsers Severely Drain Battery

    napes22 , Sep 10, 2015 :
Regardless of web browser that I use, it significantly drains battery faster then the screen itself. I've tried 3 different browsers and all have the same effect. The phone also tends to get hot when using any web browser as well.

Has anyone else experienced this? If I use the phone for anything else it doesn't drain as much (unless I'm watching a movie or playing a game).

    I'm using the OP2 stock Oxygen 2.0.2.

That's not my question. My question is if anyone else finds that browsing the webs uses a ton of battery compared to other activities.

Yes, I find the same thing. I use firefox.......Chrome is a hateful thing like a virus! If I use the browser I always close it straight after use or it really adds to the battery drainage

I've tried 3 so far, but I guess I'll try Firefox next. This has to be an Oxygen OS issue, since I've never had this type of problem on any other phone.

For now I reflashed the phone and started from scratch at 2.0.2. I'll see if that helps.

Do a forum or google search for "best android browser." However this is not the purpose of this thread.

I use CM browser as well. My personal favorite light-weight full-fledged browser. And I've noticed the CPU consumption. The CPU is in constant use as long as you're inside the app.

I wonder if a custom kernel will fix this.

I can totally confirm, like on chrome/firefox, it eats the battery like hell, and it seems like its on oxygen, coz i flashed oxygen on my OPO, and it was the same, it draining it.
Cyanogen worked perfect.... and i dunno what to do.

I don't see this problem. I'm running 2.1.0, opened Firefox, battery started at 98%.
Opened Firefox, used Google search and browsed local news. Looked at the weather, searched for Oneplus2 and opened several links. About 10 minutes of browsing, ending up at 98% battery still.
No drain, no heating. I'm on WiFi, 5GHz. Factory stock, locked bootloader.

Seems that if you're going to get help with this issue, you'll need to provide more details to help with duplicating it.

Chrome seems to lower the battery consumption as compared to CM browser which didn't cause any problem on my Nexus 4. Can't use my favorite browser :( I know it's from Cheetah mobiles but it's a light weight full-fledged browser.

Issue confirmed. Every browser drain more battery than my screen and that's strange. Either it's hardware issue or OxygenOS. I've tried updating webview but no success...
