Use a case as it would protect the device from bumps and scrapes. A skin naturally would protect from abrasions/scratches.

But glassbacks (doesn't matter if they made of Gorilla Glass 3/5/6) are prone to scratches and maybe accidental drops.
Having.a phone with shattered or broken glass, does not look particularly pleasing to the eye.

Currently using a case. Didn't want a bulky one and not anything too skinny.

And sometimes, the occasional skinny dip.

Would maybe add clear protection on the back to add some grip to it so I can use it naked.

I use the supplied case, and i have a karbon bumper waiting to be opened anytime soon. But I love the transparency.

I'm using the Nillkin Nature TPU. Phone already fell down 3 times, but there are absolutely no complaints for me.

Yes, it's very slim and offers a decent protection because of the "build-up" edges.

The raised lips are only on the bottom and top of the phone and none on the sides?

Yes, that's correct. The lips are very small... I'm using the Whitestone TGSP to protect the screen when the phone lies faced down on the table.

Not as gripy as others but enough to not worry about dropping the phone, this bumper gives you 11 feet (3.5m) drop protection

Ok. That explains everything as I was wondering whether the curved screen would need extra protection.

Naked is nice, I mean as the recently leaked inside document proved, the sum off all parts are around 350$, so the rest of 450$ OP is charging us is, for the cost of assembly, marketing, distribution, profit and a big chunk is for research and development process, so yeah it's absolutely stunning just the way it was envisioned.
But as a guy, who shattered a few back glasses, a couple of displays, what can I say, glass is glass and surely ain't a premium material, quite te opposite, so I keep my (expensive) device all covered up, I'm using a plethora of OP cases, my favorite is the always cool classic "Sandstone" but depending on the mood I might go with something else, like the flamboyant "red silicone", I also have OP tempered glass screen protector. That being said, yes, protection makes your device ugly, heavy and bulky, but it can save you from miss handling a very slippery device, but it all comes down to personal preference, since the actual repair cost is comparable with protection, a full glass back (the most common to brake) is the same price as a case, same goes for the Tempered Glass (which work as advertised, they take all impact and shatter, so I've already broken two of them and have a 3rd installed, so 20$ +10 transport, times 3, is roughly 90 $, all to avoid a 100$ display replacement :) ) also keep in mind that although some protection is provided by all them accessories, none are 100 percent proff, I've even managed to brake a glass back while having a case on, and one of the glass screen protector shatter because I've jammed my device in the front pocket of a very slim pair of jeans, alongside my Zippo lighter....
    Cheers
Ps: Please post a picture with your device all skined up, I never used skins, they look cool though, but I always feard I couldn't instal them properly.
