Hello OnePlus, I received the 4.7.5 update on OnePlus 5T but I can see still com.android.engineermode.specialtest in my apps list. Can you please rename or remove this app. I am not able to use my work account due to this vulnerability as my company keeps deleting my corp account. It looks really bad on OnePlus's part that OnePlus devices have been denied access to corp services. Can you please fix this and announce to everyone that the vulnerability has been fixed?

Please see those messages I wrote:

You can tell your company, that the vulnerability is closed despite the app still being present. There is no reason to not allow corporate account on OP5 and OP5T.

The same for me but with OnePlus 3T. I have all the latest updates. The exact reason of why they delete automatically the corp account from my phone is the com.android.engineeringmode package. It would be great to have this fixed.

Which OOS version do you have installed currently?
Is your company the one that defined the rule which led to delete the corp account or did it come directly from Google? I suspect it's the first, but didn't have any final confirmation so far.

They have to update their guidelines. The engineering mode will stay, though without vulnerability. And it's not a problem if it won't gain root access, which is now the case with OP5/OP5T.

I tried asking for official statement, but so far I wasn't lucky.

    OnePlus 3T
    OxygenOS 5.0
    Android 8.0.0

I'll ask if they can change this, thanks. Is this fixed for my phone also?

I think it might be, as it was released after the announcement. But I have to test it myself. I hope I'll be able to do this tonight. I'll also create a post with list of safe versions and sticky it to thread, so it will appear on the first page. That's the most official thing I can do.

This is a semi-official list of OOS versions where the Angela backdoor has been tested and doesn't work anymore, so the security is fixed:

    OP3: OOS v5.0 or newer
    OP3T: OOS v5.0 or newer
    OP5: OOS v4.5.15 or newer
    OP5T: OOS v4.7.4 or newer

The list will be refreshed, when new there is new insight. The list won't contain open beta versions, only the stable release versions.

Edit: Added OP3 and OP3T after testing.

They won't remove it, as it helps with some basic diagnostics and without the backdoor it's completely safe. I hope that tonight I can give you definitive answer about OP3, it has virtually identical software as OP3T, so if the vulnerability is gone in my OP3, it will also be gone in your. I'll answer to you or directly tag you, so you will be definitely notified about my insight.

Obviously you have problems reading or understanding the first post - it was never said, that the whole app will be removed, only the possibility to enable root via adb, which was done.

This thread was interesting and exciting to read, informative and somewhat emotional. I got my 5T about a month ago, running 4.7.6. I can't find "Engineer Mode" running as a process, however there is a "Factory Mode" that runs under the hidden system apps with no option to disable. Issue with corp account on OP 3T seems to be fixed after update to Oxygen OS 5.0.1. I didn't investigate but I think they renamed it.
