what is RAW images in oneplus 3T camera ? Aug 6, 2017

    why the raw image is in png formate and what is the purpose of RAW images, why the size of it is 30 MB and above ? if anyone knows this then let me know.

    They are unprocessed image files,which have all the details intact ,so that you can use them later for processing the way you want it using a photo editing software on your computer.

    Since RAW files have more uncompressed information they can be 2-3 times larger than JPEG files ;)

    the normal images we click are jpeg, those are compressed, processed and tuned so we see them the way they are
    if you edit jpegs, after an extent the image will become too noisy

    while when you click RAW, the images are not compressed , or processed, so the image is large with a washed out look, but it contains all information About the image,
    so when you edit RAW the image is very less likely to end up being noisy
