What Purpose Does OnePlus Community (forums) Really Serve?

    Free labour indeed.
    In the feels:rolleyes:
We have been through this multiple times. We have had long discussions, we have had arguments, we even had staff say they'll work on it. But have they? Why not put up a thread saying that these are all the feedback you have given us about the community and we are doing the following to answer it? Haven't seen a single post like that.
    Ya right:rolleyes:
Din my expect it to be there when you want it back:p
I don't care if they use the community for all the marketing they want. It's their primary reason to have the forums.
But when shit hits the fan, they should own it up and answer to the queries on the forum as well. It's not a one way communication.
And after all this, claiming that OnePlus is for the community and by the community is just against the morals. The head of marketing in India is going and hiding comments on twitter for having negative feedbacks!

If one claims the community is important at least have the balls to back up the statement instead of hiding the dirt under the rug.
Let's not go in there. I'm fed up. Both Trista and David got feedback from me. But i still see writer's club threads being pinned even before being made public, while threads like ours are not even considered for decent discussion.
Cupcakes are kings. They are the clueless ones who will support anything oneplus says as they gave no idea about the shitty past.
Nobody is asking you answer every thread here, David.
Create an acknowledgement thread for the most asked questions. Example: CS shit show, screen tinting, the Nord pre order fiasco. This will be a transparent mode of communication instead of running to Android authority and saying it is a feature.
    True. Very true.
Robots have the best after sale customer service. No one can beat them.

I'm completely agree with what is written in this thread, each and every line have it's own story,
Things are changed alot since I joined the forum,
It was OnePlus XDA, a tech community.

I feel ignoring the issue become the new normal here, true they never talked about the jelly effect here, using OP5 from 3 years and the jelly is real.
I was really hoping that they will address the issue of 8 series display issue here but they comes with how beautiful beautiful display is, how display mate certified it, they are now taking about those things which they teach us ' these things doesn't matter ' in past.

change is inevitable, changing is good thing but taking U turn wouldn't be considered as Change.
Users like you and Mods made this community so awesome but the faith in community is breaking and they have to address it only here not any news website of instagram.

This is what I always wanted, since the day one I joined the community :)

You know OnePlus 5 is the first OP phone to have the 90Hz display, don't know why people called it as Jelly effect :smirk::p

    Who won :D

We had such posts on different issues in the past already. What's the result of them? We feel there will be some action and say kudos to the OP poster and after few months still suffer with same thing.

Did they ever implement something? Oh yeah they've made some jokes at times indeed.. Call McLaren Edition the best in time, deliberately cutting down on features just to release requested features in next device to justify the higher price point.

We've seen 120Hz display, wireless charging tech in this manner. Whatever justification they gave in my ranting post they never cared to explain the logic of why and how these features are made magically available in less than 6 months in the standard variants and not some special editions.

One thing is clear.. They don't have a logic or we don't have brains to understand their logic. So I'd safely settle for "community driven" is just sarcasm.

Look at his statement again and you'll understand all of our raising voice is in vain. He's happy to hear feedback (negative) he doesn't say they'll do something about it. Even if said, it's not done ever.

Instead of paying $1 for Nord promotion OnePlus should've paid them the same dollar to learn consumer values. It'd have paid off a whole next level. Who ever their financial advisor is, I can say he sucks at his job.

Oh! I wanted to say this... XDA always shows up nerd alert and regular users wouldn't feel comfortable there. Hence forums played an important role to help regular users.

Where are we headed now? To such frustration that me who once referred OnePlus to friends started searching for a new brand to rely on. And facts be spoken.. I've stopped my best friend from buying Nord. I myself bought a POCO few days after Nord launch.

We should start with "who is display mate?" if they certify a tinted display as the best one ever, "What is their credibility?"

You're saying OP8? Even the 7/T series has tint issue. I can see it rn while typing this.

It's not good for them to do so. We will question them back. Instagram or those cheesy news websites just post what OnePlus wants their potential consumer base to know and not any criticism.

Equation is simple to solve, give 10 devices to users who are helping in forums and they won't get any noticeable sale. Give the same to some influencer and they fetch 1000s of consumers

And @SoniaB LOOK AT LAST 2

This is what the F word response I got when I created a thread on current issues and their probable solutions for OP 7T. @ASCHENTE_V knows Exactly what I am taking about. Even he tagged Sonia B. to pin the g damn thread. But she didn't respond so I thought maybe she was busy and I should ask all the heck moderator team by reporting and asking to pin the thread. But you see the screenshot... That doesn't even give me a readable answer why exactly my thread was rejected. Because you can't click it/ tap it, it just takes back to my own profile if tapped on the user icon so IT IS very convenient.

And doesn't end here.. in May 2020 an update for 7T as 10.3.3 came out. (And Thanks Abdul... there's still no update to what I am about to describe)
That came along with tons of bugs and no solution from oneplus at all let alone no response to my major bug reports in 2 months after the release of 10.3.3 - even if one was responded back, it just asked me to reproduce the issue which [IMG] clearly they way I explained in the bug report wasn't enough.

There's no right to users on top of the ladder to maintain threads. Their feedback - doesn't get priority by bug hunters like they are just cupcakes asking for something which isn't a bug.

That's all and I still am not coming back.

Completely agree with you without any doubt.
I had written so many things and even quoted many of you in my previous post but the chrome freezed two time (a common issue don't know when getting fixed ) and then the almighty Java error of forums comes and my post ended up like that with full of grammar error which I don't bother.

    MIUI is lub 😍

If they not addressing the current device how one can suppose for older device

That's how business works and block if someone gives honest feedback :cool:

Once you raise an issue you just get a response saying file a bug report. Resolution or progress of which would never be communicated.

I don't understand why OnePlus depends so much on user filed bug reports. A bug is detected when a user is deeply involved in something which probably irritates them and all you ask is "please file a bug report, we will look into your porn watching patterns and tinder match conversations and have some funny moments before we get back to finding which bloat to send your way"

Is every other company asking users to give bug reports? I believed in these reports helping them out but the way they want to use them for PR stuff.. I feel bad for the devs efforts. They don't get the credit they deserve purely because our voices are not taken into consideration.

If they're not capable of fixing their past mistakes, why make new?

They just don't care.. Forget about blocking.

Hey OnePlus my offer for suger coating all over the social handles is still up.. I'll delete all my negative posts and spread lub. Costs just a Nord plus that green bottle

Because their testing program is shit and has a majority of people who can't downgrade without making a thread asking how to or even know the difference between a bug and a missing feature.

    I'll give you one.

The Community is just a guerilla marketing tool, created to generate buzz, free first line customer support and build a fanbase that spreads the word.

People want to connect to like minded people, be part of something special. Oneplus, @Carl in particular, had this great Idea of creating a hive mind of early adopters for their Oppo spinoff brand.

Targeting tech savvy (young) people that are asked to advise their friends and family on buying tech stuff. If you have these in your pocket you strike gold, as they did.

You create the illusion of making a real connection, of listening, of being "friends", as salesmen all over the world always have. Think of the cattle food sales guy sitting at the farmers table, talk about the kids, family, tragedies and politics for an hour, only to close the deal in one minute at the end.

@Carl tried to play the "Friends" card too. Reason it did not work was because of the crap aftersales. Ignore all problems, wait until people get tired of complaining and leave. Then put on a smile and pretend it never happened.

It means nothing, it's just a sales tool.

I'm just here for the nice people, to help people out, not for Oneplus' horse dung of generic spin off phones and fake connection...

    Interesting read:

“We’re going to be like Apple!” I laughed, and then realized he was serious. I told him that was a tall order, and asked how were they going to achieve it. His response would speak volumes as to how the next 3 years would go: “We’re going to create a rabid fan-base which will buy whatever we sell, and we will do so with viral marketing! We will do an invite list which will create the desire for the devices and it’ll be great!”

Edit: additions and fat thumbs galore.
