Can someone explain to me whats so great about NFC? I have never used it in my life and don't plan to unless someone can explain the benefits that make it so great. All this news about it is making me curious as to what i am missing out.

    It's become a market standard....

And you'll see the benefits when Android Pay gets a full on release

Honestly, it's a proven and easy way of communicating transactions

I did google it and only read about NFC tags, did not seem like anything special. I just thought someone could elaborate on what makes it so great.

If you really just want to read about NFC tags to make yourself feel better go ahead. It ain't gonna change the fact that Google is revamping Wallet and it's depending on NFC to make that happen

Nfc can be used for pairing smartphones in one touch, also required for android beam and reading tags and also be used along with android pay by Google when it rolls out.
also some banks have cards that have an nfc chip for one touch payment.

No man I am joking ;) But people make such a big deal about it. If someone needs it they should just buy another phone. Its not like Oneplus is gonna add it in at this point.

Yeah beam is pretty cool, it's annoying that my tablet doesn't have it so sharing stuff between my phone and tab isn't quite so simple.

Yeah i know you can just use bluetooth but unlike bluetooth leaving NFC on doesn't drain battery.
