Any idea on how I can change the default location of whatsapp files to the root directory? It works fine for my work profile

    Strange,...
    What about moving?
Or reinstall WhatsApp,...Actually this should be set automatically with the installation

The work profile app was a fresh install. No backups.
Will submit the report in a bit. Have a meeting going on in the background ;)

I am facing the same issue and it is coz of the whatsapp folder being created in the media section of android
Did someone find a fix for this?

I solved it on my One Plus 9 Pro, i had the same problem.
My Whatsapp folder was saved in the folder Android/media/com.whatsapp. And no media showed up in my gallery.
(First i set "Back-up & Sync" to Off in Google Photos)
Then i uninstalled WhatsApp and restarted my Phone 2 times.
Then i searched WhatsApp in the Play Store and i realized that i was Beta tester for WhatsApp.
So i leaved Beta Tester and installed the "Standard" WhatsApp. said:

The WhatsApp folder is now saved directly in my Internal Memory.
And all media is now showing up in my gallery.
I'm not shure if the Beta testing was the problem or if just the restart and reinstallation solved it, but it is working for me now and i hope I can help some of you.

I have the 9 Pro and I had the same problem and this solved my problem too. Delete whatsapp and all of his files, restart, exit the beta and install the normal version of the app restoring all files.
