Did you receive OOS update 9.0.5?

not yet, didn't even know it existed?

I installed the update but still the same, when I unlock the clock and notifications go to full brightness for a moment.

I understand that the fingerprint light has to be very bright to recognize the fingerprint but at least the clock could be dimmer.? especially when the ambient display is just on and the fingerprint is not actually being used

I'm experiencing the same problem. Pretty annoying at night. Seems not so hard to fix to me since this already works on the standard lockscreen.

yes, the ambient display is dimmed when not using the scanner, but when you scan it goes full brightness and that's annoying.

I just noticed that even on the app lock unlock screen only the animation and green circle light up. the app icon and the pattern stay dimmed. I don't think that screen is much different from the ambient display...

another thing to note is that when the phone on the normal screen to unlock, only the fingerprint area gets the full brightness.
so it is possible to change the brightness of only part of the area.

that's what I also noticed, but it seems like they don't understand it or something.
