I don't buy them new, I buy lightly used from Swappa generally or some of the other computer/phone sites.

I buy phones (except I bought direct from OnePlus for the One, Two and X and previous Nexus phones). I bought the Three from Swappa with the Karbon and Sandstone cases from Swappa for $410 on June 23 or about 2 weeks after release.

I paid $550 for my iPhone 6s Plus 64gb with AppleCare plus until 2017 from Swappa last January or about 5 months after the September release.

I have 4 in college next year so I know about kids in college and the expense associated.

I agree new phones are ridiculous but that's why I buy lightly used.

Android phones drop considerably about 3 months after release on the secondary used market and continue to drop to a certain level where they kind of stop and plateau out at that level.

iPhones take about 6 months for the same phenomenon but don't drop as drastically.

Subscribe to a listing for a particular category of phone and you get an email when a new phone is listed in your category you subscribed to. Wait for the price you want and buy it.

The current release cycles yield great buying opportunities and the current flagships are all more than good enough so waiting to buy another phone really is not a big issue now as there really is no ground breaking improvements that change how you use your phone or are motivation enough for me to buy new.

Probably non related but seeing u guys mentioning the prices makes me think..what are the salary to price ratio in ur country??
In my country, 250USD is the minimum wage..750USD is slightly above average wage..so a budget phone in my country still worth a month minimum wage..haha

For where I live, estimated median household income is around $85,000, or around $7000+ per month. So around 1:10 for a Note 7.

That's not entirely true as only 15% of Android phones have been updated to Android M. Most phones are stuck in lollipop and many more in KitKat. Its an Android-wide issue

Damn.. That's a median??a median monthly household income in my place still can't afford 1 Note 7.. But then our cost of living is really2 low, except for tech prices..

yeah. i was actually surprised its not higher than that[IMG] a lot of rich people live here. but like you say, cost of living is pretty high here. median house price is around $450,000. so from that $85,000, not much is left after taxes, rent, bills etc

You do realize that they promissed MM to be released latest in march?
Personally I don't care about another android version. Just the security updates.
