Please listen to us and don't download one. All they do is constantly use resources like storage and RAM, thus slowing down the phone. Anyone can make an app that says, "Look! We found and removed these things (that are named things that you don't understand anyway)! Now your phone is safe!"

    Think about these three questions:

    1) Did you download and install an app from a source from the internet, or any source that isn't the Google Play Store?

    2) Can you remember a specific time when you allowed an unknown app or website gain access to your phone? Maybe by clicking a "Warning, your Android device is slow and has a virus!" or some similar spam ad, or by saying yes to grant an app that you don't know to have permissions on your phone?

    3) Are you rooted or running a Custom ROM?

If you can't say yes to any of these things, I'd bet my phone that you do not have a virus in a heartbeat. Maybe you have a crappy app installed, but Google is constantly scanning for virus apps, and the Play Store is regularly scanning all of your apps with Play Protect in the background to see if you have any dangerous apps. It's practically antivirus that's built into Android

Add to that, our phone currently has May of 2018's security patch. So more than practically all exploits and vulnerabilities are already protected

If you're still certain that you have a virus, Factory Reset. But I've never seen an up-to-date and reputable Android device get a virus. Ever.

Finally, SOMEONE TALKING SENSE! You do *not* need AV if you do not do the things above. Google already does a great job of keeping Android (and by extension, the Play Store) free of malware and relatively secure.
Don't be suckered into paying for an Antivirus, even free ones just waste resources.
The only reason why Windows became so vulnerable to viruses was simply due to the massive scale of the attack surface of the Windows OS, coupled with the legacy code and structure made it easier to break into. Nowadays, social engineering that tricks people into allowing malicous software to run is a much larger threat than a "direct virus".

You don't need anti-virus on Android. Just don't download any apps that's not from Play Store.

    Antivirus is useless

On android selinux prevents apps from truly seeing what other apps are even doing

The same restrictions apply to your antivirus app. One app on android can't directly see what another app is doing unless they have the same signature

Besides antivirus protects your userspace which is already pretty much protected by selinux and verity. Antivirus has no idea of what's going on in the kernelspace. 90% of attacks are directed here and your antivirus can't really do much about it

no need to install antivirus. don't install apps from anywhere except playstore. you don't need any antivirus protection. don't waste your phone resources on such things. it will only slow down your phone further.
instead if you installed any app from anywhere other than the palystore uninstall that
