that's every company. so to answer the question why sell and market a new piece of tech .. uhm because it does work and it will make them money which in turn the next version will be better. there is only one way to figure if something works it's to try and fail ..aka no one forced you to buy it's consumers responsibility to do there research. and I'm all for being early adopter for new tech .. but new tech users all know it's always bumpy an iffy to start but worth it being the first to use it.

obviously. I think I stated that one of the things different about the T-Mobile version is that it has 5G.........

5g still sucks for now. Go with the 7t or try and get the 7pro.

Just ordered my 7pro a few days ago. Took advantage of the sale price.

OnePlus tested the pop up camera. It cycled 300000 times in two weeks, if memory serves, without sign of mechanical wear.
I'm not experiencing the battery issue you are with my 7Tpro 5G McLaren. Maybe you have bad battery from factory? I hope it resolves for you quickly. I'm really liking my McLaren phone.

then comes the battery life it takes time for Android phones to learn your usage. I've had Android phone since the HTC Evo days. I have had the OnePlus 7 t pro McLaren edition, for about 7 days now it took roughly 4 to 5 days for it to start learning my usage so hard today I unplug my phone at 8:30 in the morning and I'm still at 65% at 4:32 in the afternoon. so far that's pretty good to me. just give us some time. I don't think there's any battery issue and I've had pretty good 5G where I am.

For people having trouble with the 7t Pro McLaren 5G, what worked for me was to go into the network settings and restrict the phone from using 5G, limiting it to 4G. Even though in my area I have pretty great 5G coverage, using it would drain my battery dry. I had a Droid Charge back when 4G was first rolling out and I remembered how disabling the 4G on that phone would improve battery life, so I tried it here and it was night and day. I suspect that since the 5G modem on this phone is external to the SoC (as in, it's a separate microchip and not integrated like the other components), the poor battery life is coming from having this 2nd modem on and drawing power, whereas if it was on the Snapdragon die, it would be far more power efficient. And given that Qualcomm announced that the Snapdragon 865 is going to be configured the same way, don't expect next year's flagships to get any better in this regard. If the theoretical Snapdragon 875 has the 5G modem integrated as it should, we'll see a return to the battery life durations we're used to while still being able to use 5G. Until then... well, I didn't buy this phone for it's 5G capabilities. I wanted a high end flagship and that's what I got.

so whats the point of buying a 5g phone if we're gonna restrict the phone from using 5g. no offense but I think they did a thorough testing before they released it, instead of using the paying customer as a product tester.
but everybody has their own way. good to know you find a solution.

You know....you might be on to something. I turned down my resolution and the brightness and voila....my battery life has improved immensely. That...and I read on here somewhere a forum member found that Facebook may have been using a lot of battery. I uninstalled that app as well to try it out. Doing that as well, seemed to do the trick.

Also...I turned down the screen to 60mhz from 90. All these tweaks to the phone seem to have righted the ship.

yes high resolution and the 90 Hertz could take more battery than normal but really it shouldn't take as much batteries as it is anyway we should have to turn the resolution down or go 290 hurts but that is definitely a future of the phone. I do think they can treat the battery a little bit in the December's security update they have promised monthly security updates. if they don't follow through they will start losing customers. and I know they go through these forms and they look for feedback. turtle get a battery fix the next month or so it is a new phone.

You will be satisfied with any of the phones; If you have an additional budget, get the McLaren edition for more extras, and if you have no problem with curved screens, both phones are great, the best on the market right now

I bought the 7T Pro McLaren. It's actually my first OnePlus phone. I love the design and it beats my Note 10+ in performance while giving me a better UI design. I seriously love this phone and can't wait to pick up a clear case to show off the back!

just a suggestion. If 5G searching is draining your battery you can go into settings and remove it as an option. easy to do and easy to undo.
