well if it does have the X55 then it still needs the proper antennas and whatnot to be able to connect to whatever frequency it needs to connect to.

and also according to reviews it does it will just need a software update to be used. though it can do low and mid bands. and mmwave when they allow it too. also now these days they use antennas that will do the frequency that is need for the future. I have a technical background.

congratulations, I have a technical background too! Have you read any of the technical documentation from Qualcomm? If it doesn't have the antenna for mmWave it's obviously not going to pull the signal. Just because it has the modem it also needs the antenna. What reviews have you read said that the McLaren 5g has the QTM525 antenna that is required to pull mmWave? From what I can see on my device is that while it does have the X55 modem I can't find anywhere where it says it has the antenna.

you are correct it does need the antenna though from what I have read it has it. even if it does not. you do realize that mmwave frequency dies not travel far at all that in order to have good coverage they have meaning the carriers gave to put a lot of micro cell towers all over the place in which they have been being meet with a lot of residence. there for it is a smart way to start with low band and mid bands then build out the ultra bands. letter like T-Mobile is doing and at&t. mmwave does not pennate though building and or even threes.

100% well aware of that! That's why I'm hoping the Sprint merger actually goes through and the dumb liberal states do not get their way in blocking it.

it's not liberal states it's mixture of both Republican and liberal. but besides that they just think that it will stifle competition which I do not think so. I think your grow competition.

It's primarily Democrat states blocking it, the biggest of course is Commiefornia and New York. Texas has pulled out of the lawsuit before the trial in NY started. It won't stifle competition any more than Sprint going out of business if they don't merge. Sprint has been bleeding customers for years and continue to do so and all of that spectrum will go to waste or worse yet go to Verizon or AT&T.

I don't disagree with you oh, but the FCC in the doj I've already approved it. they've already sent letters to the court I believe it's done January 1st or was already. and then the New year's when the judge is going to decide. I'm pretty sure it's going to go through cuz dishes going to be coming forth competitor.

re lack of features here in OnePlus but I've no regrets as well
coz xiaomi is more focused on number of devices
    , not quality support.

on my 7t OnePlus text messaging app was using up most of the battery. I am now only using the Google app for texting, my battery life is so much better

I just switched from Sprint to T-Mobile today and picked up the OnePlus 7T McLaren. The friends/family promo knocked 20% off plan for life (today is the last day for promo) and the McLaren was free with my Note 9 as a trade in. Overall, I'm pretty damned impressed. I live around 50 miles north of Chicago in a rural area (Antioch,Il.) and get a steady 5g signal. Internet download/upload speeds are roughly 3 times faster than what I was getting on my Note 9 with Sprint. No complaints here. The phone is blazing fast, just plain beautiful, and the screen is perfect. I can't really comment on the battery life yet, but it seems to be holding it's own next to my previous Note 9 so far. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. All smiles here. One observation, the live data speed widget doesn't seem to be accurate at all. I decided to remove it from the widget bar.

Slightly off topic but I can reply to posts but don't seem to have permission to make a new. Apologies but hoping someone the knows for sure can chime in. I have the regular 7T.
I bought a glass screen protector and after watching a few videos they all mention removing the included plastic one. I don't think there is one on the phone or I can't get it off. Then I see others saying the T-Mobile variety doesn't have one pre-installed. Can anyone confirm if it does or does not? Thank you

The regular 7t should have a plastic screen protector on it, if I remember right at the T-Mobile store it had a screen protector 🤔 however the McLaren does not which is odd to me.

Those are some pretty decent speeds. I have been getting some really good ones myself. Although the speed test app probably needs to be updated to read 5G since it is saying LTE when it's clearly not.

Nice! I'm sure if the Chicago area wasn't so congested I'm sure your speeds would be higher. I'm rather surprised that being ~20 miles outside Atlanta I am getting the speeds I am getting since it is pretty congested here. I'm sure once more people get on the 5g bandwagon the speeds will probably go down. 🤷🏼‍♂️
