Many people are hooked on their electronic devices, but due to pesky events throughout the day, such as driving and being at work, they cannot constantly check the phone. The manufacturers, much like drug pushers, realized that the watch would allow for the most addicted among its users to get updates 24/7. These will not make driving safer, as apple likes to claim, as it will give people an excuse, even the ones whom would never get out their phone while driving, to check Facebook, etc. while driving. It is not holding a device that removes people from their current situation, it is being immersed mentally in a world separate from your locality. Besides, watches are for people who never do anything physical, and are more constraining than a prophylactic.

    Back to the original question..
    (not read the full thread)

I have a Sony sw2 from my last phone (xperia sp) that works great with my OPO,
When in the factory at work phones are not allowed so if I receive a text or call I can see it on my watch without getting the phone out (handy as I have disabled kids and my wife needs to contact me occasionally)

Also the watch vibrates when my phone is on silent in my pocket or bag..

Smartwatches are a handy tool for me and I am not bothered about style or fancy gimmicks. (although a OnePlus watch would be nice if less than £100..)

Wife bought it for me but they are about £100 in the UK..
There are cheaper ones available on Chinese sites.

My advice would be buy a cheap one and see if you would get the use of one.. If you like having the functions then buy a decent make..

I am surprised by the amount of people really owning an actual Smartwatch, my guess was about 20%. Dont have one, dont want one (right now). Seeing no big benefit of using them, besides not having to pull out my smartphone every time a message/notification pops up.

I think that smartwatches are useful in "no phone" zones, like when working or something, but that's no problem with me. I just think that people are jumping on the bandwagon because it's new and seems cool.

I got the U8 smart watch from amazon as an impulse buy, the thing actually works. doesn't do much and the included app was taken from the play store, found another app that works with it. $40, seen some as low as $20. good to get if your unsure about getting a smart watch and want to see what its like. Good thing smart watches are becoming popular. We've been checking our smartphones for the time like Neanderthals for the past 70 years and its really pissing me off

I have had the Asus ZenWatch since December and enjoy the quick notifications for email, texts phone calls. Battery life is normally around 36 hours for me. Great looking watch (imo) and lower cost than Moto 360.
