From last 7-8 days suddenly out of nowhere i see a new Tencent folder in my phone.

Tencent is the company that makes WeChat and QQ, both Chinese messaging apps, apparently they collect a lot of data and let the Chinese government monitor what you send through them.

What I'm wondering though is why log files from it are on my phone when I have never installed this software?

If I use the file manager and go to internal storage > Tencent > msflogs > com > tencent > mobileqq, then I have a list of files like "com.tencent.mobileqq_connectSdk" followed by a date with the extension .log.

No Tencent app whatsoever. And the only app that i installed recently is official Facebook app from Playstore.

OnePlus 3T on OOS 4.5.1, no root, nothing. All stock.

I uninstalled PUBG more than a month ago. So i don't think Tencent folder needs to be in my phone anymore. Infact it wasn't there when i uninstalled it.

I have even deleted it one time but it reappeared on it's own.

What's even more weird is that these logs are for QQ app which i didn't even know existed before today!

I have the same qq logs . But I have pubg installed.
Try looking for any apps made by Chinese developers and uninstall them.
    If all fails try resetting.

I think oneplus has introduced a cleaning feature in file manager, which is introduced by tencent.
It's hard to trust tencent , as of now there is a petition being filled by many to force oneplus to remove it.

    hi all,
I don't think it is a matter of virus in apps, rather a high number of back doors in the os and Chip set.

    virus scanners are really useless....

Source for this? I don't see any cleaning feature in the file manager or anywhere else. By the way, I found that I also have that folder, but it's over a year old. I think I installed some shitty app back then that created the folder. I deleted it and it didn't come back.

I have this folder and logs. It's from my webcams (app hicam). I think it's just logs of cameras communicating with app, but there should be a way to turn it off! If I turn off storage permission, logs stop, but so does connection to my cameras.
