Why does OxygenOS need to be certified?

Since OxygenOS is supposed to be a flashable custom rom available to us, why does Google need to certify it? I understand with CM12S since that's the rom that will be OTA updated from what we currently have. Can't OnePlus just give us the rom and say something like flash it at your own risk and call it a day?

It's a closed source software just like TouchWiz on Samsung so it will need to be certified to come with the Gapps pre loaded!

Probably not, which is why you have to flash GAPPS separately on those ROMS

**I'm not sure for this, just my opinion.

If a ROM needs any OTA in the future, you'll need a certified ROM that allow you OTA.If Oxygen OS don't fix the certificate, then more and more complains in the future that oxygen os can't OTA etc.

And all these certificate is from Google (Well, Android is from Google) and have to wait for it. Some of people said that due to oneplus is not that large company, so might have to wait for a bit longer.

**Once again, just my opinion and my current knowledge lol

Being closed source has nothing to do with it. If they want to provide gapps then it must be certified.

Because they want a proper OS to work out of the box and presumably with a bootloader that can be locked.

Also oneplus might want to replace Cm by oxygen os in the future, if they don't perfect for the first time, well...will you flash it?

Nope. And CM doesn't include gapps. Also, Cyanogen and CyanogenMod are two different companies. If they were the same, then Cyanogen would most likely be required to certify every release even if they didn't package gapps.

Oxygen will be something official and i really don't think they can ship it without being certified because once you are a part of the OHA, you can't do certain things. You shouldn't think of it as being a community build like CM is. There won't probably be any Jira bug report neither.
