I guess they would sell very few 64gb if this was the case,

32gb is plenty for most with the likes of spotify etc!

If base was 32gb I would have to consider it over the 64gb but between 16gb or 64gb it's kind of a no brainer.

yep i was thinking the same, its all about the pice design ,and 299 is catchy. also 16gb is standard but 64gb is what gets peoples attention, 4 times the memory for only 50$ just sounds great

Until Apple Stops selling the 16GB it will never go away. HTC have stop dealing with 16GB long ago.

I considered the many "Why isn't there a 32gb?" threads, and changed it up a little asking why not 32gb as base instead of 16gb? Also, just getting thoughts on why 32gb isn't the standard base spec by now.

Yep, agreed. Apple is probably a big influence on keeping it around. So I guess 16gb is dirt cheap, and there is not much difference in price between 32gb and 64gb for phone manufacturers.

Anyone gonna actually pass up a 16gb invite if received?

I feel like many people would just go for the 32, and the 64 makes OnePlus a little bit more profit. I'm okay with it.

I'll probably get the 64GB version if given the choice, but I do agree 16GB is paltry especially now with so much HD content. Probably could fit only 2-3 movies on for a plane ride.

Umm, actually talk to my family? JK.

We are going on vacation soon - driving 11 hours. I'm sure there will be a few dead spots. Gonna load some music on my 16gb Nexus 5 to be prepared. Then once there, try and put the phone down for a week. We'll see how that goes. I do that, and I will miss an invite. o_O

that's the part that always makes me insecure, because I know whenever there will be some point in time where I can't access my data from the cloud, lol. Plus, I'm one of those people that feels that it is safer to have your data physically on hand opposed to cloud. Regardless of whether that's rational or not, its just how I feel, hahaha

If you just need a phone to text and call, 16 gb is enough. And if you have a lot of apps and music and videos, 32 is too small. Maybe 16 gb is cheaper than half of 32 gb.

I just don't think there is a price point... Keep the cheap one under 300, make the upgrade only $50 more

Keep in mind... if you need more storage for a trip or something (such as wanting to watch movies on a long plane ride), you should be able to use USB-OTG and a thumb drive. I don't think it's really a viable option for those who are looking to store and listen to music (though you could make it work), but it's perfect for "I want to watch movies on a plane".

Yes this is true. The difference between 16gb and 32gb was substantial but the difference betwen 32gb and 64gb was so small it was pointless to make the 32gb chip when they could make the 64gb chip for essentially the same price. So instead of 16gb and 32gb they did 16gb and 64gb.

I agree with you, 32GB would be a good option for base mobile.
