You do have a point. Though it might be a very slight problem now (some apps only get installed on the internal storage) and a Marshmallow update could fix it to a great extent or even completely, the point you seem to be missing is that it might take forever to get a Marshmallow update.

I would suppose it's because the OnePlus X is the mid-rangephone with a price acknowledging just that fact. So, since you can expand your memory via MicroSD card, you can still save some money by a lower inbuild memory. They wanted to aim at a lower price, so they made it even by compromising the inbuild memory, which, in my opinion is a good choice. Remember, that they could sacrifice CPU or RAM for the price, and they did not do that. So, think about it :)

    God bless you.

I had dreadful experience with memory card .Memory cards have certain read and write cycles and the performance will be drastically diminished over the time.

Very true, I'm guessing though that OnePlus made this phone 16GB internal with 6.0 firmly in mind. It's not ideal but it'll all boil down to cost cutting.

Unfortunately though if people need a dual sim phone and more than 16GB then this isn't going to be the phone for them.

Could be that. But I think it's mostly cost cutting. Reduce the internal memory and provide an SD card slot. Voila! Phone cost goes down. (Maybe by a little or by much. Not important.)
Personally, I don't think it would be as huge a problem as people here are projecting it to be (Just look at the number of damn threads complaining about memory!) Keeping everything on an SD card also makes it easier to move most of your data.
There is no perfect phone. You have to give up on something to get something and OPX seems to be a fair deal considering everything it has and doesn't.

I am not concerned about memory. Reception in the USA will be subpar, as bands 12 and 17 are not supported by X.

Missing band 17 is huge for Att people, but no band 12 for tmobile shouldn't be too bad. I had a Note 3 on tmobile and it didn't have band 12 at all, and it worked fine. It will be like tmobile reception 2 years ago. Sucks they didn't add it, but I think it won't be horrible.

There is no perfect smartphone and never will be..and i hope you know that...you need to settle for some reasons...
If i get a s6/edge i need to settle for less battery, if i get an iphone 6 i need to settle for less customizability... If i get a note 5 i need to settle for a non - removable battery and storage expansion...and bringing a single sim "dual sim with compromises", what is the harm...most flagships are single sim devices ...and being a single sim device doesn't mean you settle for something....be honest and tell me
If you get a s6/note5 / iphone 6s/lg g4 /nexus 6p for this price ...wouldn't you take it and settle for a single sim device...
    Please think about it

I believe that they are cutting costs by having an inbuilt memory of 16gb, which allows it to be cheaper and more affordable for the public.

Well, it's not being marketed as a flagship. You'd be hard pressed to fill up 16GB of internal memory with apps that need to perform very quickly. What the OPX has is the luxury of additional onboard memory for data storage, well beyond that of the flagships. Ironic, ain't it?
