Why the oneplus 2's 13 mp camera is ok

A lot of people have been upset by oneplus's choice of a 13 mp camera. Some of them even mistakenly claim that its the same camera as the oneplus one. As everyone who paid attention knows, the oneplus uses a sensor with 1.3µm sensors instead of the usual 1.12. Here is an article explaining why that makes a difference.

Now, i know this article is about apple and the iPhone 6, but the logic and math applies to the oneplus one as well

Yes, but people see 13mp and notice that the opo had 13 mp too and then immediately get upset because oneplus didn't "improve" the camera by throwing in a higher mp sensor

I agree, just higher megapixels doesn't make a better camera. 13 MP coupled with gr8 sensor shud be amazing

Then these people should do some reading and understand the difference a good sensor makes - and that the number of MP's is not really relevant

Is the camera on the OnePlus Two made with a partnership with Sony like in the OnePlus One or is it designed and manufactured by OnePlus themselves?

Having doubts about the camera, even with OIS and laser-autofocus, the OPT still seems to oversaturate each HDR photo to unnatural levels, here is a comparison of photos posted by MKBHD

Look at facts! the photo comaprison done until now clearly show that the OP2 performs very well. That s enough for me! All lot of people think that the most is the best but not necessarily. Everything is about "optimization", the deal is to take a maximum benefits of the technology you are using . The question would be the same for the SD810, the performance is not only the core speed but also the way you are using them. Look at your OPO, it is very well balanced and even today, performs very well compared to the current flagships. I think OP did a real good job with OP2 even if it does not satisfy every fans;)

If you haven't seen the MKBHD quick camera comparison with the OPT and other flagship devices, watch it then you will know why people are not too animated.
The OPT may have the parts by name but does it work well, by the video test seen in the review the OIS is not very good.
I noticed there's no mention of Sony this time round.

A different analogy but I remember my Nokia and Ericsson phones had ton better cameras than the Samsung shit.
Even with less megapixels the images with Nokia phones used to be better.

It's way too easy to get caught up on inflated camera specs; a quality sensor and image stabilization -- plus some common knowledge on taking good photos -- are far more important than megapixels alone.

If I want to make a quality 12x10in (or even larger) print, then the 20MP + larger sensor + OIS makes absolute sense. But if I'm only uploading pics on Instagram, Twitter, flickr or Photobucket -- all for general viewing only -- then 13MP is more than enough.

U don't need a 600hp Lambo to drive a mile to the grocery store to get milk. :D
