That's true, but I imagine pairing a pentile with a 5.5" 1080p wouldn't really provide optimal results. Like I said I don't think 1080p is to blame, just the fact that it's 1080p AND pentile. Also the Mate 9 has a 5.9" 1080p IPS panel but still supports Daydream.

It's true, the experience is not as crisp as with a QHD screen (I use my VR headsets with both the OP3 and a LG G4 with a QHD display). But, it's still pretty enjoyable. When playing games or watching a video, you can't really see the difference. It's just more obvious when reading small text if you are completely stationary.

I wasn't aware that the Mate 9 was getting Daydream as well! That's pretty insane given the fact that it's running on Kirin silicon. I thought Daydream was going to be exclusive to the SD 820 / 821 and above. And with a 5.9" 1080p LCD display? Now there is no excuse for the OP3 / 3T not to get Daydream :) (except for the already mentioned marketing benefits, software implications, etc.)

The OnePlus 3 has the required hardware, but it's lacking the necessary software. This is something that only OnePlus can provide, or someone who decides to make a working port of Daydream, a mod, etc.

On the Beta 8, I've been able to install the Daydream VR App successfully, and actually opened Fantastic Beasts VR. It crashes soon after though.

I"m hopeful that sooner of later OnePlus will realize the benefit of making their 3/3T Daydream compatible and push an update next year.

As for CM14.1 supporting Daydream, I haven't tried it yet. I couldn't find anything on that thread you shared related to the topic at hand. Could you explain why cm14.1 could be compatible?

    Thank you!!

In your requirements for that thread it says "oneplus 3 (not T)"

Are you saying this also works on the T?

Yes! this was before Nougat arrived for the 3T, hence why I never mentioned it. But it works nevertheless :)
