I was just looking at it a while ago...tempted but i still have fondness of my 5T for whatever reason, so I left still holding on to my 5T [e]1f602[/e]

I would purchase it because the hardware specs are awesome.. the phone looks good on paper...

I wouldn't purchase it because OnePlus doesn't appear to take privacy and or security seriously... The Op7pro unlocked is on April security patch as of this writing which is unacceptable in my opinion.

Not to mention the OP7 Pro price is increasing and you're not being provided any insurance against incidental water damage via an IP rating...

Is this really an issue? I mean, I get the importance of the security update but quarterly is just fine unless there is some critical vulnerability found that has a real risk of being exploited.

Yes, it's really an issue for me. Microsoft issues updates to Windows monthly... Google issues updates to Android monthly... Resources are allocated to this activity for a reason... Implementing those patches quarterly when they're available monthly is unacceptable for a "flagship" device.

They may not talk about the risks currently available in the Cybersecurity environment on your local nightly news, but please believe me when I tell you that they exist.

Believe me, I am well aware of the risks as I work in the security field. I'm not downplaying the situation at all just curious as to why you feel so strongly.

No manufacturer really has a good update program outside of Apple and Google. Samsung is one of the better Android manufacturers but even they lag behind in most cases. And the carriers certainly don't help the situation much.

Hopefully they will all work with Google to prioritize the Project Mainline software.

I agree... but their slogan is "Never Settle"... It's my understanding Project Treble exists to assist with the fragmentation and should make it easier for manufacturers to keep devices updated...

I don't expect to have to "settle" for the status quo with a company that is projecting itself as progressive...

I wanted to buy one plus 7 pro... but was sceptical about the pop up camera (want to give it some time) and also early review suggested poor battery life so instead I bought the one plus 7

I had similar concerns... Do you take a lot of selfie's? I don't. However, a plus to having a pop up camera is it can only take pictures when it's popped up... so any malware designed to spy on you by activating the selfie camera will quickly be identified... It eliminated the need for a webcam cover...

I'd bought it, but I'd be lying if I said lack of 3.5mm port and an indicator light wasn't a major turn-off

I bought it and returned it because:

    - Curved screen (in landscape mode the curves distorts the content and ruins the experience for me).
    - Weights too much (almost ¼ Kg with a case).

such a shame honestly because I loved everything else but those a major no-no for me.

That is the usual for me but my wife talked me into Huawei P30 pro cuz of how impressed she was so I bought 2 one for me and one for her. well luckily after the Trump issue, we did not want to be stuck with non updatable phones so we returned them to our provider. Well in that short 15 days my wife sold her old phone and I had been watching this one plus 7 Pro and decided to give her my Note 8 and I bought the fantastic One plus 7 pro.
