    Well....Yeah.....
    You can always do that...:D
It's just that I will feel a bit (uncool) for playing at 720/1080p on a 1440p display :p.
of course your opinion may vary...

I think QHD does only make sense in very very big displays (>6")

Quite simply there WILL be an impact in battery life AND performance. For me (and many others) I would prefer that the OPT is optimised for battery life and unthrottled (no thermal throttling) performance. With current battery and SOC tech that is best achieved at 1080p on an OPO sized phone.

720p is more than plenty for a 5-6" screen. Anything else is a waste. The problem is marketing gimmicks sometimes overtakes common sense. Therefore everyone tries to out due the other. No need for such high res in small screens.

Spot on...We do need to maintain a certain level of Pixel Density
Which as you know is inversely proportional to the Display Size...Provided the Resolution Remains a constant...
(Sounds like a Gas Law) :p

    To Each his own..Right!?
    But I prefer a 1080p panel personally....
    I think 720p is ... a bit low...Just personal opinion. :D

I fell the same way for people who want a 4K panel on their phones (No offense)...They must be having a 'high resolving power' Visual Cortex....Make's me feel my Eyes are just Potatoes ...All cool

When it comes to smartphones, 1080p is MORE than enough for me... It's just so stupid to waste RAM over something that's useless. As long as everything on the screen I see/read is sharp and readable enough, I'm ok with it.
BUT, when the screen size is over 6in things get serious. I'm currently using the Nexus 7 (2013) tablet, which was the first tablet ever to have sharpest screen at 1920x1200. I personally compared my Nexus 7 side by side with DELL venue 8 7000 clearly saw the difference (not the same case with smartphoneso_O). So my next tablet will SURELY be a QHD tablet.

1080p + proper contrast and luminance + fully optimized dynamic range=perfect (for a smaller screen)

Unfortunately, many people buy into the "more is better" hype and believe that higher ppi instantly means better screen.

I am all for bigger is better when it comes to smartphone specs, but 1080p is all I need on a display smaller than 7", no matter what people, blogs and manufacturers keeps telling me.. M

the G3 was plagued with lag because it was pushing too many pixels, i used my friends Z2 and compared it and the Z2 had a much nicer panel

LG G4 pretty much says you're wrong. Better battery life than the G3 with great performance.

    You can bet on this...

Had the G4 for a week than returned it, just didn't like it, and battery life was average at best..
