I really want to upgrade my Oneplus 5t with the latest models but one thing stops me and (I think) many people: this lack/bug of the certification Widevine L1 DRM.
I can't send my device, after 3 years i am shocked by this persisting problem, not only on my 5t but also on the new devices. Any news about that? I really love Oneplus experience but without netflix hd I can't buy another Oneplus phone.

Did you manage to get support to connect you to the responsible team? I have 4 requests open to send my 5t for the L1 upgrade since August and they haven't gotten back to me.

Yes, the latest information I could get is that they are working on upgrading Widevine via an OTA update.

I posted about this a while ago:
    https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/netflix-hd-google-widevine-update-coming-as-an-update.1371029/

But, I don't know how much to trust them...

No, I didn't because I never wanted to send my phone, then i saw threads about downgrade from L1 to L3 after an update of the Oxygen, so I gave up definitely 😂. I am still hoping for this doubtful OTA update.

It cannot be updated via OTA, its hardwired in your and can only be done by someone who has the expertise and speciality software access and to update the rom on that piece of hardware.

OOS is an merely interface to use your phone, widevine is a security protocol hardwired into the phone.
