    Hello all,

    question to OnePlus.

Will you implement WiFi 6 in OnePlus 7 Pro?

Snapdragon 855 already support this new technology but you didn't buy licence for it. Qualcomm statement is that it's possible by software update.

You all time repeat that you listening community.
I think it's good adventage to have it!

    OnePlus, please implement this.

Community what do you think about this?

    BR,
    Mateusz

for first OnePlus 7 Pro have Snapdragon 855.

for second like I explained Snapdragon 855 support this, but OnePlus didn't buy license for 802.11 ax..., so it's disabled...

I don't know why you don't understand this..

I know that, but OnePlus 7 Pro don't have it.
This is the reason why I direct this question to OnePlus. To implement this by update.
I would like to have answer from them regard this...

    the point is simple
You have a wifi6 router and the phone receives the wifi6 signal
the phone does not receive wifi6 signal, it is not solved with an update

I think it's quite simple to connect the facts that if I'm asking about WiFi 6 I have opportunity to use it.
Unfortunately the phone isn't support this...

I see that you are forum moderator and you are not helping much, really..
You only make it more difficult... No more, to say...

Hi, please realise that these are community forums. If you want to submit a suggestion to OnePlus directly to request them to support this in future, you can do so in the feedback forums, as @Cervantes was trying to indicate:
You can find Feedback in the Community app or you can submit a suggestion to this effect using a (mobile) browser
in the Feedback forums (https://forums.oneplus.com/feedback/) -> Submit suggestion (https://forums.oneplus.com/feedback/create?type=2&node_id=314) where fellow community members will be able to show they also would like to see this suggestion implemented by "starring" your suggestion, indicating to OnePlus the overall interest.

I hope this addresses your concerns, if not, please do let me know.

Hi! I don't know if it is possible but if it is i think it's a better value for users. If is something related with licensing only the brand can answer and if it will possible to chance it. It's my opinion. "Never Settle 🇵🇹

Actually it's not that simple. I'll suggest you to study network standards and their dependencies. WiFi 6 or ax is indeed a standard which is supported by specific hardwares. WiFi+Bluetooth is integrated into a small chipset, it is not integrated or cannot be integrated in Snapdragon 855. When OnePlus chose to use SD855, they had a chance to choose other hardwares which are not integrated into the processor, i.e Wireless Module(WiFi+Bluetooth), Modem (X10,x12, etc), audio DAC, RAM, etc. This is not possible to upgrade a standard with a Software update and as far as the ax standard is concerned, ax standard works on 2.4 GHz and 5Ghz bands simultaneously, you should know 2.4 GHz has a highest bandwidth of 40Mhz and For 5Ghz it is 160Mhz. 2.4 GHz (speed upto 72Mbps for 1×1 connection) provides better coverage whereas 5Ghz provides higher speeds upto 433Mbps (For 1×1 connection) while compromising with the range factor. WiFi alliance came with a solution by utilising both the bands simultaneously so that you can get higher speeds with better penetration capabilities. Hence you should understand that the current WiFi5 hardwares cannot support it.

@chiranmay I hate to necro this thread but I felt a need to do justice for @matkosek . You are the one whom is not properly informed and should read up on things before posting such statements about things you do not fully understand. Qualcomm has stated specifically that the 855 in the OP7 Pro does have FastConnect 6200 (https://www.androidauthority.com/qualcomm-fastconnect-1022505/) and with it Wifi 6 but that it's blocked from use due to certificates which would be granted by a software update. For anyone whom found this thread like myself looking for any possible updates about Wifi 6 and their OP7 Pro best I can offer you is that there are rumors about it possibly being added with the next update. https://piunikaweb.com/2020/03/20/oneplus-7-pro-wifi-6-compatibility-could-come-in-the-next-update/ and https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/...oon-support-wifi-6-possibly-via-a-future-ota/

I appreciate your comment. I had read that same information and was hoping to find an update on it.

Hopefully it's something that actually does get updated to the device. I recently upgraded routers with WiFi 6 capabilities, but have no way of actually using it right now.
