In Germay your provider has to activate it also. But, Telekom doesn't support it at devices they didn't have by themself as a contract phone

If you're suggesting those apps I don't think you quite understand what Wi-Fi calling that everyone is talking about really is.

It's a functionality enable at a Tele-Service provider that sends your calls to your phone through active Wi-Fi connections. No need for different accounts etc. It's a seemless process that kicks in via your normal phone number when mobile reception isn't available eg. In a heavy concrete apartment etc.

T-Mobile in USA is supported by default.turn on in the sim card setting, then it should show VoWiFi icon on top right.

My provider currently only supports iPhones and Samsung Galaxys.

I'm wondering if it's something the phone software can still make happen with provider intervention?

I am interested! And I don't care how old that thread is, as I still haven't found a way around it. I am on ID network in UK :(

As told before your carrier has to support it. For example here in Finland my carrier (Elisa) started supporting it and VoLTE last week and they both started to work automatically.
