Wifi Disconnect after being inactive

    Y1520826900624, Mar 12, 2018 :
When the screen is locked and phone became inactive for more then 5 minutes (sometimes its less then 5 min), phones wifi use to get disconnected and so no further notifications pops up for any application. Again unlocking or simply pressing power button just once, wifi gets connected. From last 1 month I am facing this problem.

    I am using OOS 9.0.6 on OP5.

I have noticed that it is not really the wi-fi that disconnects but it is rather the apps that get closed when wi-fi is being used.
I have tested and I still can ping my phone, but apps are all killed, and need to unlock phone re-open apps to it to work again.
Turning off Battery/Doze optimizations does nothing.

@Drudo the new OOS does not have this option anymore, it was an oreo setting.

Thanks for the info. This is really annoying. It is a problem for those who use this phone for/at work...

The problem is that this doesn't seem to have a solution, I tried every thing, custom roms, custom kernels, multiple xXx options, a magisk pixel wifi mod, change build.prop.

But none seem to solve this problem :/ I've open a bug report here to see if OnePlus will give a f**k about this problem.

I hope they do. OP is good but for the price I expect more customisable things/settings and standard apps like music player. But this bug now is really annoying. like right now. I got the notification about your answer only now after changing rooms... together with others

    Heads up on the issue.

It seems the problem is related with wi-fi power save mode implementation, what I realize at least in my case, is that my router does kinda disconnect my idle devices from wifi to save power and reconnect them after some thing like an online notification.
My wifi phone does that, enter sleep mode, disappear from router client list, but soon as I send her a whatsapp message or email her phone wifi turn on back again and the phone appears again at router client list

But on OP5 this does not happen, it seems after the router let it disconnect to save battery, OP5 can't recconect back.

I think I fixed it, but I have do idea what fixed it

But let me tell you what I did and maybe it can help you

    I installed this app
    https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142503
Follow the instructions, applied the new heartbeat and restarted phone, but nothing changed
So I return it to default via this app, removed it and restart, but the problem was still there

The I realized my google play service(this is what is used to get new notifications/messages/etc) had the data usage enabled to disable in both wifi and mobile data. Turn it off.

i did not test if it was already working at this point and went do perform this adb command(there are guide to run adb via PC or you can install a terminal on your phone)
via cmd: adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable
via android terminal: dumpsys deviceidle disable

I don't know if this will still work after a reboot, kinda scare to do one right now.

I flashed last OpenBeta, stock kernel and last magisk version.

If a custom ROM doesn't solve it, it would be a hardware issue and yet .... the claim is that the WiFi is ON and the device answers a ping. That means its NOT a hardware problem.

So ... only possibility .... operator error

Don't know what a custom ROM is, but it can't be that it is our fault. I have no issues with other devices like phone and tablet. It only happens on this and my husband's phone. On my phone the WiFi icon (only that) disappears from the screen. after I turn on the screen, it appears with 5 seconds and I get all the notifications at once. There are no setting to prevent it either. How can that pe an operator problem? If by operator you mean the phone user of course.

maybe. but everyone has the same problem. connection is cut and no notification. no matter what, this can be not a problem caused by the user , since there are no settings which can make it happen.

Will you guys PLEASE stop asking for BLOATWARE.

Google Play Music MUST be installed per Google's contractual agreements. Some of us will install a REAL music player, like PowerAmp. That's two. Now you want a third??

Every app that is installed in the system can NOT be deleted. Why do you want to force others to have TWO pre-installed music players that we'll never use? Go download whatever music player you like and stop begging for bloatware.

you should chill dude. what are you making a fuss about something we weren't even talking about?
Don't you know what to say anymore, or what?
    First.
Second, why do you think people bought thiose phones in the first place? Because it WAS NOT a Google phone.
If you are a Google fanboy than go somewhere else and don't annoy us. I don't use any Google Apps If I can, same with that wannabe music player of theirs. Why I don't want to install any other players from the store, I don't need to explain that to you and there is only one music player. Google's. And anyway you can keep your "thruth" things for yourself. Nobody asked for your opinion in the first place, and nobody replied to this thread for that either. Go take a cold shower and chill your balls.

This looks plausible. You can turn off power saving on your router to see if this solves the issue.

No. You don't get it. You don't use the Google crapware and don't use it. NEITHER DO I! Oneplus was founded on NOT forcing a bunch of bloatware on the users! It was one of the company's original goals!

But now you want enforce ANOTHER music player on someone else? This isn't Apple. We don't force people into an "ecosystem". It's about CHOICE. And every app that is pre-installed removes your CHOICE to not have that app on your phone.

Don't be so F* lazy and download what you want from Google Play Store! You have that choice. Don't force your choice in music players on someone else.

Want the Oneplus Music? Here ...

They got rid of it because it sucked so bad. It's all yours!

It is not a router problem since other phones don't have this behavior using my wifi. Like I said, my wife phone does not have this problem, my router is set to performance mode. I tried using other routers and had the same problem.

It is hard to say it is an operator issue or hardware issue, because if you look for it there are many complains about delayed notifications, both on OP forums or google/xda.
