it's the problem with the phone..5ghz band keeps disconnecting. At first I thought it was my router problem but my other phones are working perfectly and my friend with OnePlus phone confirmed that he too has 5ghz disconnection issue.

Actually it isn't disconnecting but if m at distance the 5ghz reduces the speed considerably if remained connected.

If anyone is getting disconnected, then you should check router admin page: there are two separate passwords for 5ghz and 2.4ghz bands. Make both the passwords same, this disconnection problem would be solved.

    I have separate ssid for 2ghz and 5ghz ..
    it's the problem with phone.
I have 5t too.. before android 10 update 5t had no issues with 5ghz but after 10 update 5t also started disconnecting.
you guys forget the 2ghz and connect only to 5ghz and closely monitor for 10-15mins see if it's disconnecting or not.

Stick to 2.4 GHz. Much more stable and longer range.

I know that ..but having much higher internet speed than the 2ghz threshold. Using 2ghz than 5ghz is useless for such internet plan.

Does it really matter though? How many simultaneous downloads are you running?

Yup this worked. Thanks guys [e]1f44d[/e]
However phone should also have option to stop this fluctuations as in case of office where I don't have access to router's admin page. Dun know why they removed it!!

By disconnecting u mean to say the speed drops or connectivity issue? I haven't faced any connection issue, though will revert if I notice such thing.

I have this issue, can't change SSID for just one of the 2.4 and 5 as they are tied together by ISP router sw (BT homehub 6). Have turned off setting in one plus 6t that should disable switching but it doesn't work. Was thinking of getting 8 pro but reluctant to by OnePlus again simply for this reason. Other family members don't have issue with apple and other android phones. Driving me nuts, when it switches to 2.4 youtube buffers for about 20 seconds.
