Will OPO support ANT+?

Hey all, I haven't really found any thread about this, so here we go.

ANT+ is BLE-like protocol for all kinds of sport sensors like heart rate monitors, cadence sensors, foot pods, etc. I'm thinking of upgrading my dedicated HRM to a just a sensor with ANT+, so it would be great to connect it to the phone directly.

I'm not keen to say if BLE chips support ANT+, so it would be cool if someone clarifies this for me.

What I've found by googling is that some chips do support this tech, yet it is not enabled by default. For one, some guys on xda-developers have written a driver to patch the Nexus 5 in order to enable the support for this protocol.

I'm sure, if ANT+ is supported or it is possible to work it out, OPO will get a HUGE appreciation from all kinds of cyclists/runners/athletes...

UPD1: ANT+ is now supported since the last few OTAs (38R was the earliest, I believe). Some ppl report unstable work though: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/ant-connection-for-oneplus-one-issue.145063

Looks like it could...but it's still a question of if it will.

Teardown shows that the OPO has a Qualcomm WCN3680:

and according to Qualcomm, this chip supports ANT+

However, there are a lot of phones with the WCN3680 that do not have ANT+:

okay, thanks for that - I really didn't know the teardown was available. The next question is - would the community be technically able to create the drivers or we would need OPO to give away some kind of crazy company secrets to do that?

There is one guy, who has done smth like that for Nexus 5, as mentioned above, but I'm not developer (

So if it is a software mod as stated above my post. It would be easy for a developer to implement this if OP doesn't. Simply root and flash a zip file to make the modification if a dev looks into it

Yeah, I'm also not sure how much effort that would be. I imagine it being awesome even for OPO to add the support of a new technology and bringing on board all kind of fitness enthusiasts with a click of a button. Anyone here using ANT+ sensors at all?

I just ordered my OPO - and plan to be tinkering with the CyanogenMod source once it arrives

August 1st Cm 11 nightly added ant+ support. Installed ant+ services, reset my Garmin HR monitor and now it works.

If you are asking me, yes it works on the CM Nightlies, not on CM11s. I use it on my OPO.

Actually with ColorOS1.2.0 OPO works perfect with ANT+. All you have to do is installing all ANT+ radio service/plugins/demo componets or something like that. Screenshot_2014-08-20-16-08-09-157 - 2.png

Hm, that's really promising, thought I don't particularly a) fancy a ColorOS b) don't understand, which plugins you are talking about. It would be cool to see someone make it work with CM... It would, in fact, be really awesome!
