    According to the article this is it for Windows as far as Microsoft is concerned.
    So i thought it would be fun to have a thread where we speculate on why and what's to come.

    I for one think that a big part off it is this: Windows idea off a multi platform ecosystem really haven't been the success they've been hoping for. The phones can be said to be a royal failure, and as Microsoft will end there partnership with Nokia, it seems even Microsoft feels that way. The tables are even less popular. And as laptops diminish in popularity, all windows really have going for it is the desktop OS.

    That being said, I think that Microsoft is off to an exciting new start. With their HoloLens on it's way, and the changes it can bring to how we use our PCs and Xboxes, I think Microsoft is rethinking what a PC OS should be. I think they feel that Windows as a concept is holding them back, and that their trying to corner new markets rather than competing in ones where the status quo has already been set.

    What do you guys think? Do Microsoft have something up their sleeve?

    Considering how much enterprise is on windows and the size of that cash cow it's hard to believe that they wouldn't continue with some OS.

    I am not too surprised at the choice to stop at Windows 10. When W10 was created, they heavily emphasized that Windows 10 is made to be a universal-style OS ( at least in terms of applications) from phones to computers.

    I do agree with what you mean by Microsoft is trying to rethink what a computer is, but in today's world, that is going to take years to happen.

    I think so to but i think/hope that there trying to reinvent themselves. I don't think they'll just do some new themes and slap on a new name, so to speek. I actually think that AR and VR is going to change how we use PCs in the years to come. Some say it's just a hype bubble but i don't think so. To many SiFi-films are based on it, for one thing;-)

    lol I'll settle for what I've currently got:
    ssd1: win7
    ssd2: OSX Yosemite (hackintosh)
    both fully functional and working brilliantly, and seeing as I'm new to OSX it seems to be the OS I'm booting to all the time, at least this last week.
