Wipe, update or else?

    Hi all,

I have my OPO for few years and now the software is little buggy i.e. I'm not seeing who called me, new messages etc.
I don't want to buy a new one, because the current is in good shape, but I wonder what is the best choice to do now?
Should I just do factory reset or maybe I should upgrade the Android (current version is a bit old) and change the OS for different one?

    Android version: 6.0.1,
    Cyanogen OS 13.1.2

I say change to a different custom ROM with a newer Android version. There's no reason to be stuck in the past with all of the custom software options that are available for OnePlus phones.

I have a few questions ( about prolonging the longevity of the phone):

I have the 6. It's a good phone with decent hardware.

But I have never rooted any phone and don't understand much about it. The risks scare me.

Having said that, do you think that the Life of the OP 6 can be prolonged beyond 2 years ( max OS updates ) by rooting?

I recently installed LineageOS 16 (Android 9 Pie) on my OnePlus and it is fantastic. The phone feels much faster now and you can download 'nightlies' to keep it up-to-date.
