    Hi friends,

Photography has always been something our Community is passionate about. Since 2013, we’ve witnessed an ever-growing interest in mobile photography with all of you pushing us to do more. Now, more than ever, you expect to be able to capture your dearest memories in higher quality, sharper detail and, perhaps most importantly, more accurate color. OnePlus has always prioritized a premium user experience over everything else. Beginning in 2021, we are focusing those efforts on significantly improving your smartphone camera experience, with the expertise of a truly legendary partner – whose cameras captured humanity’s first steps on the moon.

Today, we have announced a three-year partnership with iconic camera manufacturer Hasselblad to co-develop future generations of OnePlus flagship smartphone camera systems. This journey starts with the revamped camera system – Hasselblad Camera for Mobile – that will make its debut on March 23, as we unveil the OnePlus 9 Series.

Our partnership with Hasselblad has gotten off to a very strong start. For several months now, the OnePlus imaging team has been collaborating very closely with Hasselblad R&D – spending countless hours working together to re-imagine and re-define the approach to color accuracy on OnePlus smartphones. In fact, we have created an entirely new color solution – Natural Color Calibration with Hasselblad – that will now serve as our new standard for color calibration for future OnePlus smartphone camera systems.

A really unique part of this collaboration has been the opportunity for OnePlus and Hasselblad to engage a number of photography experts in the co-development process. There are only 12 Hasselblad ambassadors in the world, and we are very excited to have worked closely with a select few of them to gather invaluable objective and subjective feedback to help further fine-tune the camera performance of the OnePlus 9 Series, based on their personal experience testing the devices in various types of photography. Keep an eye out on OnePlus’ channels to see their sample shots soon – and trust me, they are truly remarkable.

This is just the beginning of what we will achieve together with Hasselblad. Our partnership will continuously develop over the next three years, starting with software improvements including color tuning and sensor calibration, and later expanding to even more dimensions to develop more innovative imaging technologies. But you don’t have to wait to reap the benefits – with the OnePlus 9 Series, you’ll already be able to experience a vastly improved camera experience thanks to our high-performance hardware and Hasselblad’s expertise in color and unique sense of aesthetics.

In parallel, we are also doubling down on our long-term commitment to advance mobile photography. Over the next three years, we are also investing USD 150 million to continue upscaling and improving our imaging capabilities to deliver cutting-edge camera technologies that meets your growing expectations.
    • We’re pioneering new areas of smartphone imaging technology for future OnePlus camera systems, such as a panoramic camera with a 140-degree field of view, T-lens technology for lightning-fast focus in the front-facing camera, and a freeform lens – to be first introduced on the OnePlus 9 Series – that practically eliminates edge distortion in ultra-wide photos.
    • We’re also further developing four major research and development labs around the world, including two innovative imaging labs based in the United States and Japan.
The OnePlus 9 Series will use a custom Sony IMX789 sensor for the largest and most advanced main camera sensor ever on a OnePlus device. I’m confident the professional photographers among you will appreciate the 12-bit RAW support, giving you more room for additional post-editing than ever before. The Hasselblad Camera for Mobile will also offer improved HDR video recording, as well as support for capturing 4K video at 120 fps and 8K at 30 fps.

We can’t wait to tell you more about the OnePlus 9 Series and our partnership with Hasselblad. Join us online on March 23 at 10:00 AM EDT / 2:00 PM GMT / 3:00 PM CET / 7:30 PM IST at https://www.oneplus.com/launch and find out all there is to know about our most advanced camera system and most powerful flagship smartphone series ever.

    I'm more excited for TV X ;)
But partnership with Hasselblad can truly help you guys to overcome the biggest problem, but it was never about the camera hardware, I hope the camera software is also improved for better optimisation and tuning of the image
