    Hi all

Since 2018 is almost over, I thought that it would be nice for us all to reflect on this past year on the forum.

    Lets make it fun. [IMG]

    1. Post here, your favourite forum post(s) and/or thread(s) of 2018. It doesn't have to be written posts, memes/GIFs/Photo pics are included
    2. Explain why you chose them. Context is always important.
    3. Either quote the post or provide the link.

I will choose a Top 5 and update the thread on January 1 2019 @19:00 CET

Disclaimer 1: This is just some fun recap. This is not a contest and there are no prizes.
Disclaimer 2: Though you are welcome to share it here, since I will be choosing the Top 5, nothing posted by me will be counted.

So in no particular order, here is the Top 5 as chosen by me:

    https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/lets-talk-mental-health-what-has-been-your-experience.873032/
Nominated by @Moin2200, I cannot agree more with his choice
To see people on this forum talk about stuff they had to deal with hit home with me. It was nice to see many talk about stuff I had also experienced and reading about how they’ve dealt with it. It’s a pretty sensitive topic, but an important one at that.

https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/closed-pen-is.934594/ it was nominated here a few times and @Cheetosdust explains why it deserved recognition

    On a more serious note.

It’s a thread filled with dumb jokes at first glance. However, I actually think it’s more than that. You can clearly see the community having a great time, having fun with what others were writing, but never crossing the line, never being rude and never losing the sense of what a community is, the sense of respect.

It was something important and actually special. It showed humor (childish, but still humor) and it showed those who were presente that we like each other and that we can joke without offend and that we can have a serious conversation and then just have nonsensical fun with a wordplay.

That thread also showed how the mod team can lead by example. Some of the dumbest jokes there were written by the mod team :p (meaning: @@camohan wrote the bad jokes and @@SoniaB just thought it was a great idea to pulverize the rest of the members, obliterating @@camohan in the process). A regular Tuesday for her then :D

I'm pretty sure that was not the intention, but that opening post was for me the start of one of the best times I've had here. I've wrote some stupid threads filled with just, well, nonsense, and I've wrote more serious ones, however, the "pen is" thread is the encapsulation of bonding over tech.

It showed me how freaking awesome this place can be.

Respect and love to you, you and you for making that possible.

    https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/experimental-test-field.852153/ as nominated by @script and @TibiTibi

This whole thread is a true pearl in the forum and contains so many great posts of pure art, in combination with fun.

I agree that @buntycubal created a truly awesome pic. However it would be remiss of me not to mention the pic as nominated by @Bouncer71 also

https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/weekend-fun-time-lets-take-a-group-photo-via-bitmoji.897235/ as also nominated by @Bouncer71
It was hilarious fun and the biggest forum collaboration I've see so far..
@buntycubal, @Baymax, @BobbyV8_ and @johneebee did some awesome group pictures...!
And I found my Avatar to keep... 8D

I have to agree, people really did try to go all out in that thread and it went on for 55 pages!

    https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/results-are-out-who-has-empowered-you-in-your-life.862278/ as nominated by @varma246
It was nice to see people on this forum talk about their loved ones who's there for them in their Good/bad times of the life and inspired them to be a successful person in their life. It’s a beautiful thread even though it's held for a contest...:)
I completely agree and can only echo the words that @Ruby G. used when she updated the thread with the winner announcement

Wow. I'm always amazed by the OnePlus community and this time was no exception - the gratitude, the life change, the perseverance to move past incredibly hard moments with the help of loved ones... Reading through your writing and looking at your photos, everyone's story of empowerment is important and meaningful.

Well that's it folks. Another year on the forum has passed.
Wishing you all the best for 2019!

I'm surprised to see the OP!
I will update links here soon.

    Edit:

    Nice idea, SoniaB like it!
Choosing one favourite thread from the past year would indeed be extremely tough as we have had thousands of them in this year.
Ranging from funny, cringe-worthy, irritating and something that was so well written that it puts a simple in one's face, it's been a perfect composition.
I decided to break down the term favourite in the following genres:

    Funny:
Ofc, we can't deny it had to be the Pen Is thread
but lately, at the end of 2018 another one popped up,
"Calling for a Porn-free android" now that was about an 'Adult' porn addict who wanted to quit watching porn and thought it would be a great idea to create a 'safe space' that would (idk how) keep him away from the sites that have now turned his fantasy. That's like instead of keeping a cigerrate on the shelf keeping it in a safe (the code of which,he knows) , either way it is super easy to grab it when he wants to.
While the idea itself was funny, the way the initial post in the thread was composed was ROFL!
[CLOSED]Call for a "Pornfree" mode on Android

@Ruby G. 's weekend fun time caption this includes one of the most funny handmade memes ever!

Weekend Fun Time: Caption this! Share your OnePlus memes.

    Laudable:
    The OnePlus Community Awards
It's not everyday that you see the great, patient, understanding and selfless community members, being rewarded for their kind actions.
One such instance and for the first of its kind, the community awards was the start of yet another era.
Presenting the first OnePlus Community Awards!

@NeverGiveUpOnYourDreams 's interviews are informative and really nice to read, it let's us get to know better, the community users we have been seeing for a long time. One such quality thread is here: 11 different questions answered by mods

    Visually appealing:
It is unfortunate I cannot add each and every thread from the photography section, but the shutterbugs of our community have and continue to amaze us with the amazing feat of photography skills.
For this I will add the entire photography sub-forum and the captain of these monthly threads @script

    The first impression:
Software issues are common, while some are geniune the others are stupid requests, which force us to think why do people even use smartphones. At times people fail to get something to work the way they desire, and aren't able to find the required settings in the endless list of settings.
One such encounter which was just yesterday, was with a person in starting point 'Notification help'
While you think of me as a fool to add this, maybe you should scroll through the thread comments and find out how presentable and patient users can get, at times.
    Notification help

    Much awaited:
For this I would plainly say "Pie for OnePlus 5/T"
This was and still is one of the most awaited thread and an all time favourite for all the hard working mods, and pie whiners. I don't think that this needs context.
OxygenOS Open Beta 22 for the OnePlus 5 and Open Beta 20 for OnePlus 5T

    An emotional one:
@Baymax 's post in the valentine's day contest was like nothing I had ever seen! I cried a river, it was heart throbbing to hear about the loss of someone you loved to the moon and back. Indeed I used a box of tissues.
[Winners Announced] Spreading the Love for Valentine's Day

At last all the amazing Weekend fun times and giveaways organised by @Ruby G.
and The Lab and contests @Crystal Z. Cooks up for al of us are something that attracts everyone's attention.
@Cheetosdust till date crafts one of the most well written posts, and whatever he writes is enjoyed by all.
The community is a cornerstone to the brand's success and everyone's contribution, however small, plays an integral role toward enhancing everyone's experience and creating an atmosphere that all can enjoy!
I may have drifted to far away, but I couldn't help.
    Thanks again Sonia.

I have definitely enjoyed the forum activities we’ve seen this year. From the community and the staff it seems the forum has been a lot more alive than usual which is a huge plus in my book.

My favorite competition has without question been the bullets wireless musically challenge.
    https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...ets-wireless-musical-review-challenge.846980/

Such a fun and creative way of doing reviews and really challenged me to be more open with how I voice my opinion.

And the let’s talk has been so fun since Ruby decided to let the community be a part of choosing what to talk about. And this one was very important to me.

I agree with your second point. Context is always important when you are mentioning the pen is.

And to answer your third point, please check my first point. You know, above the context for the pen is, a very funny thread.
