    Hi everyone,

I see a lot of people are exited about Zen mode. And I'm happy to say that OnePlus has recently published the Zen Modes apk on APKMirror. I've tested it on my OnePlus 6 running OpenBeta 18 and it works. However, the only way you could initiate it is via a tile in the notification shade. I'll put a link to it as well as a link to my Reddit post below for those who are interested.

    EDIT:
Screen recorder is now available as well via an apk. The link below will redirect you to APKMirror where you download it. Same with Zen Mode, you can only enable screen recording via a tile in the notification shade.

It was uploaded by OnePlus to APKMirror, which is a reputable APK hosting site used by various news outlets like Android Polis. It's safe to say that it won't contain any viruses. But if you're still worried, it's fine to just not install it, the choice is up to you [e]1f60a[/e]

That is the only way to enable it, from those tiles. Is independent of the settings app and the rest of the OS

Because you are downloading it from playstore or through a official way, it is giving the alarm.

That's because it's not a system app, therefore it is not integrated in system settings just yet. This is just a quick and easy way to get Zen Mode for those who want it. If you prefer full integration, I would recommend waiting for the official update.

Thats what I'm saying, there is no "full integration". That apk is the final version.

Yeah, it's pretty much bandage for the hype surrounding Zen Mode right now. Exited to see it fully integrated in the future though, alongside the other newly announced features.

It won't be fully integrated. I've been using it for quite a while now.

Why do you need an app to make you stop using your smartphone? They should've rather spent considerable amount of time to provide new features making use of that edge screen then to a nonsense which shuts everything off for 20 minutes.

This is mostly due to the overwhelming requests for OnePlus to add some sort of digital wellbeing feature into OxygenOS after Google launched Digital Wellbeing. In fact, I'm actually glad they did it as smartphone addiction must be taken seriously in my opinion, especially in this day and age. I do agree that useful software features are key in building a great smartphone, however adding too many features will just add bloat to your phone. Which is not what OxygenOS was meant to be in the first place. I feel like OxygenOS is at a good state where you have plenty of useful features without sacrificing the clean stock UI that many love. At the end of the day, software is subjective and is always based on personal preference.

@damnitjoshua is right. There has been a craze for such a mode ever since Google announced the DIgital Wellbeing feature.

In fact, many want both! :p

It is true that my phone should not have to tell me when I should take a break ( it's not my mother  ), nonetheless,it is a feature I would like to have , to be honest. :D

Opening an app whose purpose is just to hibernate every damn shit for 20 minutes is absolutely crap. The only thing one would do in this scenario is to look at the timer and check how much time has elapsed.

Fin fact, OnePlus actually added Digital Wellbeing in the OnePlus 7 pro, as shown in this video at the 4:25 mark. Always good to see OnePlus adding Google features into OxygenOS.
