I'd say that the fact that Atom is a x86 processor is the real issue there.

If Android OS is hogging up the battery time, I can't see how that's hardware.
Stuff's running. Their distro needs to be tuned up.
Last night I rolled back to KitKat and went from 88% to 46% battery on my OPO myself, found Android OS ate my power. On the same phone that had great battery like life the previous day (but lots of google annoyances).

I would like to see something close to an ideal environment battery test vs Snapdragon for actual hardware battery drain.

Android is well tested and developed for ARM. x86? Not so much.

So yeah, it's a software issue but that derives from hardware.

    Don't buy x86 devices... :p

Seriously though, I bet they will address it in future updates. You can try and check if there are any wakelocks and then search online for possible fixes.

Also, you can have a look at XDA and see if anyone else is complaining about the same.

dont worry. android 5.0 lollipop had an issue with the battery, this is fixed in 5.0.1, but that update isn't out yet for the zenphone 2

It's a software issue. It's the Android OS drain problem. It'll be fixed in the next version update.

Also, ZenFone 2 is amazing so far. I've had it since the NYC launch event, and I have very few complaints.

Don't worry, the bug will be gone soon. ;)

    What is this based on?
Given the fact this battery drain is a known and ongoing issue on existing Snapdragon and even Mediatek hardware I'd say unless you have some insight on the layer between Android and the chipset this doesn't hold much water.

It's good that you ask, and I don't blame you for that. But I think you are more likely to get answers at your device's dedicated forums or at XDA

Please cite sources for this. As far as I can tell, you are expressing a personal opinion/bias against the Intel chipset and blaming the problem on that.

Battery drain on 5.0 is a known issue that impacted the OS, not based on the hardware that was supporting it.
